Ingredients you’ll need
I have jotted a few notes below on the ingredients you’ll need for these spooky vegan gravestone truffles, ingredients I use and some suggestions! You can find the full written recipe, method and ingredients quantities in the recipe card at the bottom of the page.
- Cookies – You can use whatever cookie you’d like for this recipe including Oreos, Biscoff biscuits, or even gluten-free! I used vegan bourbon alternatives from Tesco and they work perfectly (and very tasty).
- Dairy-free / vegan cream cheese – My go-to vegan cream cheese is Violife Original, but some other vegan brands i enjoy are Nush, Go Dairy-free and Miyoko’s.
- Dairy-free white chocolate – I used Sainsburys free from white chocolate. Some other go-to’s are iChoc Vegan Vanilla, Enjoy Life White Baking Chips and Galaxy Smooth White Vegan Vanilla.
- Dairy-free dark chocolate – Use a rich dark chocolate (70% or above) for best chocolatey flavour, and it also means you wont need as much black food gel for a deep colour.
- Black food gel – I have linked the food gel I use here. This brand is vegan and their food gels are extremely pigmented meaning you only need a tiny drop for a vivid colour! Highly recommend their range of Pro Gels!

Vegan Gravestone Truffles
- Total Time: 30 minutes
- Yield: 8–10 1x
- Diet: Vegan
Description
How to make fun and easy no-bake vegan friendly chocolate truffles shaped as gravestones for spooky season!
Ingredients
- 150g of chocolate cookies (I use vegan style Bourbons)
- 60g of dairy-free / vegan cream cheese
- 200g of dairy-free white chocolate
- 50g of dairy-free dark chocolate
- Black food gel
Instructions
- Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper. Set aside.
- Place the cookies in a food processor or blender and whizz up until crumb-like. You could crush them using a rolling pin if you don’t have an electric mixer.
- Pour the cookie crumbs into a large mixing bowl & add in the dairy-free cream cheese. Mix together until fully incorporated. The mixture should be sticky and hold it’s shape when squeezed into balls.
- With clean hands, weigh out 40g of the truffle mixture then roll into a ball, then shape into a gravestone shape, semi-oval with a flat base (refer to video for example). Once shaped, place on the lined tray.
- Pop the tray into the freezer and allow to set for around 20 minutes, or until firm to the touch.
- About 5 minutes before the truffles are ready to come out of the freezer, pop the white chocolate into a bowl on top of a saucepan with boiling water, creating a bain-marie and allow the chocolate to fully melt. You can also melt the white chocolate in the microwave. Mix in a drop of black food gel to create a grey shade.
- Remove the truffles out of the freezer & dunk them in the grey coloured chocolate! You can either insert a tooth pick to the bottom of the truffle and dunk in the chocolate, allowing excess to drip off or balance the truffle on a fork, using a spoon to drizzle over the melted chocolate to coat. Allow any excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl. You may wish to repeat this step a few times to get a thick coating of grey chocolate.
- Place the truffles back onto the lined tray and place them into the freezer to set. As the truffles are very cold, the chocolate will set almost immediately so they’ll only need to be in the freezer for around 5-10 minutes.
- When the truffles have set, prepare the dark chocolate.
- Melt the dairy-free dark chocolate along with a drop of black food gel. Transfer this into a piping bag and snip off a small tip.
- Pipe the letters ‘RIP (Rest in Peace’, common on the front of gravestones). Once piped, place back into the freezer for 5 minutes to set the decorations, then serve.
- Tuck in and enjoy!
- Optional serving suggestion – Serve on some crumbled dark cookie crumbs to look like soil around a gravestone, simple yet effective (and very delicious!).
Notes
To store: Store the truffles in an airtight / sealed container in the fridge, and allow to come to room temperature before enjoying.
As they contain cream cheese, make sure they are kept chilled.
What cream cheese do you use? I use the brand Violife, Original.
Best eaten within 4 days of making.
